CodeGuard creates offsite recovery copies of the website data you connect to it. Begin by identifying both the files and databases that make the site work. A file backup alone can leave a store, blog or customer portal without its content and transaction data.

01 Prepare the connection
Open the CodeGuard service supplied with your Nabtech order and check its storage allowance and available features. Identify the website's document root, database name and supported connection method. Use an account limited to the required website scope where the service supports it.
- Add or select the correct website in CodeGuard. Follow its current connection wizard and use the hosting server details supplied for that service.
- Choose the supported secure file-transfer method and provide the required credentials. Review the selected directories carefully so you include application files and uploads without copying unrelated sites unnecessarily.
- Add the database connection separately when required. Use the actual database host and an appropriately authorised user. If remote access or an allowlist is needed, use CodeGuard's current documented requirements and ask support to configure the narrowest necessary access.
- Review exclusions. Cache files may be replaceable, but uploaded media, configuration and database exports may be essential. Excluding a large directory simply to fit a quota can make recovery incomplete.
- Start the initial backup and wait for successful completion of both files and database. A connected status alone is not proof that a usable recovery copy exists.
- Review the backup date, included data and any warnings. Configure notifications and confirm that the next scheduled backup also completes.
How do I check that the CodeGuard backup can support recovery?
Test a permitted download or restore into an isolated location using the options in your package. Verify a representative file and database-dependent page. Document how to restore and who can authorise it before an incident occurs.
02 Watch scope and storage
New uploads, additional databases and retained versions can increase backup usage. Monitor capacity and resolve failures early. CodeGuard does not automatically back up unrelated Google Workspace, Zoho or OX mailboxes just because they use the same domain.
If a connection fails after a password, server or firewall change, update the backup configuration and run another successful backup. Keep the last verified recovery point until the replacement has been checked.
