Opening phpMyAdmin from SiteWorx for the correct database

control-panels, development

phpMyAdmin provides direct access to database contents and SQL operations. Open it from the intended SiteWorx account and confirm the database before browsing, exporting or applying any query.

What you need before you begin

Know the full database name from the application configuration. For any planned edit or import, obtain a usable backup and review the exact SQL for destructive statements or references to another database.

01 Open phpMyAdmin from SiteWorx for the correct database

  1. Sign in to the correct SiteWorx account and open Hosting Features > MySQL > PHPMyAdmin.
  2. Select the intended database in phpMyAdmin and check its table names against the application. Do not infer the database solely from a similar suffix.
  3. Use Browse or a limited read-only query first to confirm the context. Export a backup before making changes.
  4. For an import, review the selected database and file together, then read the full result rather than treating an upload completion as proof every statement succeeded.
  5. Log out when finished and close the session on shared computers. Keep exports outside public web directories.

02 Example: confirm the selected database before an import

After selecting the intended full database name in the left navigation, run these read-only statements in its SQL tab:

SQL example
SELECT DATABASE() AS selected_database;
SHOW TABLES;

The first result must match the exact database in the application configuration. NULL means no default database was selected. The table list should fit the intended application; do not assume a familiar prefix proves ownership. These statements do not change data. Stop and correct the context if either result is unexpected before opening an import or update file.

Confirm the expected result

The selected database, tables and application should agree. After an authorised change, verify the application’s behaviour and preserve the import result for troubleshooting.

Troubleshoot unexpected results

InterWorx documents a single phpMyAdmin session at a time. Use separate private browser contexts when comparing accounts, and recheck the active identity after switching. A missing database may indicate the wrong account or permissions rather than data loss.

Can I undo any SQL query by closing the browser?

No. Many changes commit immediately, and some SQL statements cannot be reversed by a transaction. Review the operation and recovery plan before executing it.
