Opening Plesk webmail securely

plesk, email

Webmail lets you read a hosted mailbox from a browser. The available webmail software and address depend on the server configuration. A domain using an external mail provider may need that provider webmail even when its website is hosted in Plesk.

What you need before you begin

Confirm that the mailbox exists on this Plesk mail server and obtain its password. Use the full email address as the mailbox username. Your Plesk panel password is a separate credential unless you deliberately made them the same, which is not recommended.

01 Open Plesk webmail securely

  1. Sign in to Plesk and open Mail. Locate the intended address and use its webmail action when available.
  2. Alternatively, open the verified webmail URL supplied for the service. A common pattern is https://webmail.example.com, but it works only when DNS, webmail service and certificate are configured.
  3. Check the HTTPS hostname and certificate before entering the full email address and mailbox password.
  4. Open the inbox, then send a test message to an independent external mailbox and reply from that mailbox.
  5. Log out when finished, particularly on a shared device. Avoid saving passwords in a browser profile used by other people.

How do I verify I opened the correct mailbox in webmail?

Confirm both sending and receiving work and that you are viewing the expected mailbox. Check the sent folder and any configured filtering or forwarding if a message appears missing.

Troubleshoot unexpected results

For a missing webmail icon, the domain may have webmail disabled or use an external mail service. For a certificate warning, use the verified supported hostname and ask support to correct the configuration. For rejected credentials, reset the mailbox password through an authorized account. Do not repeatedly reset the Plesk owner password in an attempt to fix a mailbox login.
