Managing SolusVM login alerts and account security

servers, security-ssl

Login notifications help you notice unexpected access, but they do not prevent it. Current SolusVM installations also support two-factor authentication, which should be considered separately from an email alert preference.

What you need before you begin

Confirm the installed panel version and keep your recovery email accessible. An older SolusVM 1 screenshot showing a Login Alert checkbox does not establish that the same control exists in SolusVM 2.

01 Manage SolusVM login alerts and account security

  1. Open your account or profile settings and review the security options actually provided. If a login-notification setting is available, enable it and save the preference.
  2. In a legacy SolusVM 1 account, the option may appear under My Account > Account Settings > Login Alert. Use that route only when it matches the panel you have.
  3. For current SolusVM 2, open the profile security settings and configure two-factor authentication using a supported authenticator app. Follow the setup confirmation and preserve recovery information securely.
  4. Perform a fresh login to test the authentication challenge. If you enabled an email alert, check the destination inbox and spam folder for its delivery.
  5. Review unexpected alerts by opening the panel through your trusted bookmark, not by following an unverified email link.

How do I verify login alerts are working?

Confirm that the intended security control works. No received alert is not proof that no one logged in, because email delivery and notification configuration can fail.

Troubleshoot unexpected results

If your panel has no alert option, ask support what login-audit or notification facilities are available instead of searching for a hidden legacy menu. For an unrecognized login, change the panel password, review recovery details and authorized access, and contact support with the event time. Do not send authenticator secrets or recovery codes in a ticket.
