Delete a global email filter when its account-wide rule is no longer needed or has been confirmed to cause incorrect mail handling. Removing the rule changes future deliveries but does not undo actions already taken on older messages.

Prepare for the change
Record the filter’s conditions, actions and order first. Check whether a team or application depends on its redirection. If your aim is only to change a destination, editing the rule may be more appropriate than deleting it.
01 Remove an account-wide email filter in cPanel
- Open Global Email Filters and identify the exact filter by its name and purpose. Open its edit screen first if the name alone is unclear.
- Check whether another filter performs the same action. Removing one duplicated rule may not stop the behaviour while the other remains active.
- Return to the list, select Delete beside the confirmed rule and review the confirmation. Choose Delete Filter only for that rule.
- Send a new external message matching the former condition. Also send an ordinary message to another affected mailbox.
- Review the remaining filter order and document the removal, especially where several administrators manage the account.
Confirm the expected result
The deleted rule should disappear from the list, and new mail should follow the remaining delivery settings. Confirm the actual receiving mailbox rather than only observing a successful deletion notice.
Why does unexpected filtering continue after I delete a global rule?
If delivery still changes unexpectedly, inspect mailbox-specific filters, forwarders, spam settings and remote mail routing. Recreate the saved rule only if it was removed by mistake. Messages discarded earlier may require a separate backup recovery and are not restored by recreating the filter.
